JOB DESCRIPTION
:
  • Provide advisory services including social, political and cultural analyses to guide the development and strengthening of strategic partnerships;
  • Lead the strategic planning and implementation of UN Women’s partnerships across civil society, the media and the private sector, in both the development and humanitarian contexts;
  • Design, manage, implement and evaluate a partnerships strategy in support of the UN Women country programme goals and strategic direction;
  • Explore, foster, develop and manage new and influential partnerships and advocacy campaigns to promote and advance UN Women’s mandate and programmes in support of national priorities and commitments, and to leverage political and financial support;
  • Represent UN Women, as appropriate, as an advocate of the importance and potential of partnerships to advancing women’s rights and UN Women’s strategic objectives.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Summary of Key Functions:

  • Provide advisory services including social, political and cultural analyses to guide the development and strengthening of strategic partnerships;
  • Lead the strategic planning and implementation of UN Women’s partnerships across civil society, the media and the private sector, in both the development and humanitarian contexts;
  • Design, manage, implement and evaluate a partnerships strategy in support of the UN Women country programme goals and strategic direction;
  • Explore, foster, develop and manage new and influential partnerships and advocacy campaigns to promote and advance UN Women’s mandate and programmes in support of national priorities and commitments, and to leverage political and financial support;
  • Represent UN Women, as appropriate, as an advocate of the importance and potential of partnerships to advancing women’s rights and UN Women’s strategic objectives.

Technical advisory services including social, political and cultural analyses to shape the development of programme and project specific partnerships opportunities to advance commitment to women’s rights and gender equality:

  • Compile  and synthesize on a regular basis political, economic and social information that can inform the Representative in his/her functions relating to advocacy and partnerships building;
  • Advise on entry points for  social change programming, including key partners for alliance building to support the UN Women mandate;
  • Provide constructive and timely advice on inclusion of partnerships components in programme formulations to integrate advocacy and partnerships building strategies into UN Women’s programmes;
  • Generate strategic partnerships information to support resource mobilization;
  • Strengthen UN Women’s positioning as the lead UN agency for women’s rights.

Lead the strategic planning and implementation of UN Women’s partnerships across civil society (including the UN Women Nepal Civil Society Advisory Group), the media and the private sector:

  • Convene, coordinate and facilitate UN Women’s partnerships with civil society and women’s groups, including the UN Women Nepal Civil Society Advisory Group (CSAG), as key advocates of women’s rights to advance national priorities and commitments and UN Women’s support to these;
  • Work with the media to promote consistent and positive discourse and messaging for gender equality and women’s empowerment and to influence the political and financial commitments to gender equality and women’s empowerment in Nepal. Leverage the Government’s Right to Information Act to promote sharing of and access to information;
  • Build and develop partnerships with the private sector, including through the Women’s Empowerment Principles, to leverage their potential for advocacy, gender-responsive practices and investments, and resource mobilization for UN Women’s programmes;
  • Design and implement partnerships for engaging men and boys and youth, including with the Men Engage Alliance and by leveraging the UN Women HeForShe campaign;
  • Leverages these partnerships to support other initiatives and campaigns such as the SG’s UNiTE Campaign, 16 Days for Ending Violence Against Women and Girls, Planet 50:50 by 2013, etc.

Design, manage, implement and evaluate a partnerships strategy in support of the country programme goals and strategic direction:

  • Ensure a clear, coherent and prioritized approach to UN Women’s strategic partnerships building to support the office’s country programme and emerging opportunities;
  • Monitor the implementation of the strategy and make timely adjustments as necessary.

Explore, foster, develop and manage new and influential partnerships and advocacy campaigns to promote and advance UN Women’s mandate and programmes in support of national priorities and commitments, and to leverage political and financial support:

  • Keep abreast of developments nationally, regionally and globally to identify new entry points for UN Women’s partnerships with civil society, the media and the private sector;
  • Anticipate challenges and emerging opportunities for advancing women’s rights in the country and identify potential partnerships to engage in these agendas.

Represent UN Women, as appropriate, as an advocate of the importance and potential of partnerships to advancing women’s rights and UN Women’s strategic objectives:

  • Promote UN Women’s strategic direction and programme priorities with established and potential partners;
  • Contribute to UN Women’s reputation as a credible, effective and dependable partner;
  • Advocate with and influence government and development partners as needed in close coordination with UN Women’s programme teams.
